MyZiva.net has been recognized nationally for providing complex data in a straight forward and easy to understand manner. Users also appreciate how easy our site is to navigate and use. We at MyZiva appreciate the positive feedback.
We also appreciate and recognize the valuable service performed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the United States Department of Health & Human Services, which has made available the statistical data on nursing homes.
The CMS data is derived from two primary sources:
Includes the nursing home characteristics reported by the facilities themselves and the health deficiencies issued by the government during State surveys.
The State survey agencies are responsible for entering survey information into the OSCAR database and providing updates as needed. The information on the nursing homes' characteristics derived from OSCAR is prepared by each nursing home at the beginning of the regular State inspection. This information is reported by the nursing homes themselves.
Includes data for the ten quality measure rankings.
The data for the ten quality measure rankings is derived from the Minimum Data Set (MDS) Repository. The quality measure rankings show the percentage of residents in each facility with certain characteristics. All of the data contained in the MDS is reported by the nursing homes themselves.
The OSCAR data is generally updated on a monthly basis by CMS and the MDS data is generally updated quarterly. Note that there may be a lag time between the date of the survey and the date that the survey results are entered into the OSCAR database.
